The initial impetus for this blog was the adoption of Facebook® commenting by the Verde Independent newspaper. For many years the online comment sections to Verde Independent news, editorials, and letters were places of lively discussion and debate, with added content and lots of humor. A belief that Facebook could enhance profit by upping page hits changed that. The few comments that now appear are predictably ‘correct’, and are often given by people with no connection to the Verde Valley. Is it any wonder that some of the elderly commenters who took pleasure in their local connectivity have subsequently passed on?
Anyway, the idea was to move the old-style commenting to WordPress. Obviously that didn’t happen. So, for now, the only thing appearing here will be essays on subjects that currently interest me, which could be anything.
And who is verdeviewer you may ask? Well, if you don’t like verdeviewer, you can call me Dave. Keep in mind, though, I’m not always here.
