VerdeViews.com

VerdeViews.com is a work in slow progress eventually to include a photo journal of Arizona’s Verde Valley area.

There are currently only three pages of somewhat limited interest. All are comparisons of historic annual temperature records—from regional averages down to max/min at local weather stations.

• Climatic Variance for N. America currently includes NASA and NOAA data for global, U.S., individual states, and 312 individual U.S. stations, plus Berkeley Earth averages for all of Canada.

• Climatic Variance for Europe currently includes Berkeley Earth averages for France and Germany plus individual station data from NOAA.

• Climatic Variance for Africa currently includes Berkeley Earth averages for Africa and Niger plus individual station data from NOAA. (Niger has a relatively large number of stations for an African nation, but the data is sparse.)

Annual Berkeley Earth data is derived from monthly records that are complete only through 2012. Station data is derived from daily records through 2014 (note that many U.S. stations listed are now closed). As of 2005 (2001 for many stations), France ceased making maximum and minimum temperature records from individual weather stations freely available (see this blog post).

The Climatic Variance viewer allows you to compare intervals and see the average and trend for an interval. You can set the start point of the graph for easier comparisons, either from a drop down list or by clicking the year on the graph. You can set the period of interest either from drop down boxes or by clicking and dragging start and end years on the graph. You can save a view and toggle between it and another view. As you move the cursor over the graph, you will see the temperature for a particular year below the thermometer.

I hope those interested in climate find the viewer at least potentially useful. Your comments and suggestions are very welcome.
